PROJECT RUNWAY BEFORE HEIDI KLUM (sort of) STRIPES + PLAID

I have had a love affair with fashion ever since I can remember. Like any passionate relationship, it called for sacrifices. Therefore, at 17 I decided to leave my fatherland St Lucia and move to London to pursue my dreams.

I have to say, getting used to the English weather was not easy, but working for renowned Joseph certainly smothered the experience. I stayed in London for 10 years, but it was only when I moved to Holland when fashion and I started procreating, that is: making clothes. It does not come as surprise that it coincided with the birth of my daughter.

Let me just say I thought sewing at home would be easier than shopping out with my little girl… It was not.  Before I gave up, I made a pair of trousers. They are not perfect but remind me of the beautiful time and also the fact that I am not the technical mind.

What about you? Do you have any fashion pieces that you made by yourself?

A DAY OF MY LIFE - YELLOW WITH CREAM TONES

On that day, I taught my usual yoga lesson; My eyes are bit tired; dark shadows visible and so are late nights. Ok, Ermine, get yourself together. The blog needs update. Let’s do it.

The yellow coat adds an extra shine to the otherwise awfully grey morning. I wore two cream cardigan to give my body extra heat and I am still wearing the t-shirt that I wore from my yoga lesson. Sweaty!

The printed cotton pants is a winter purchase but I will definitely rock it throughout the summer.

I am wearing some malas too. After all, I have just taught a yoga lesson reciting all the ohm mantras. To be fair, malas on my wrist is an everyday style for me anyways. You know me, the wrists just can’t be empty. The merrier, the better.

Finally, a gold touch on my feet to keep me shining throughout the day. I was wearing

SWING WITH LIFE - SPLASH ON COLOUR

Sometimes all you need is a splash of colour
xo

Sun is out, so why not be outside! It is winter after all so cozy up, enjoy, and embrace the sunshine since the days are so short.
The dress I am wearing is a wool mix with angora. I did forget that angora against my skin is not a happy medium. I knew that when I first bought it but that I was able to disguise that sometime every now again prick feeling. The trick is to wear a long sleeves long undress like a soft cotton t-shirt to prevent this. Great thing is, I do not have to wear it everyday.
I added layers of dainty chains to brighten the front and to give the dress a bit of a personality. Added the purple meets maroon tights, to up light the cream dress. It is always good to add some colour, even a shade that you will not dare to try. Go on and try it, it might just lighten up your mood and put a spring in your step. Go on and surprise yourself, if adding vibrant colours are to daring, start by wearing a piece of jewelery.
The key to adding colour to a bland item of clothing is that the total combine pieces of clothing has to synchronize, like your shoes with your bag, or your lipstick with your earrings etc.
The shade of blue within the scarf gives the black coat a fresh feeling. The scarf works well and the shade of purple in the beanie comes back into the tights. The coat is simple, elegant, and full of movement. The boots gives the outfit that edgy look.
To me this outfit is playful, simple, chic, feminine and edgy. I like adding different elements to my outfits since I think it compliments my personality.  Forgot to steam my sweater. (lol)

WHITE ON WHITE ON BLACK

I did not get dress like this to go unnoticed!
Liberace

Today I was embodying Liberace, minus his excessive accessories. It was the day to wear my sexy high top boots…a Christmas present. The cream coat is a purchase from Zara. I had both eyes on this coat for a while, but I did not want to have to pay full price for it. I wanted to have the coat since cream is one of my favorite colors for winter, but the climate here in Holland certainly does not permit this.
The hat is a Phillip Treacy, which have been part of my closet for quiet sometime.
The very faux fur is also Zara, I paid full price for it, a little too much actually but I could not bear if it had sold out although I would have survived but yet again that colour stole a piece of my heart, and because it oozes 1920’s vintage glamour.
The shirt is from Gap also a resident of my wardrobe. The forest green short sleeves pullover (which is not very visible to the eyes), is from the H & M. I like it because of its embellishment… I like shiny things once a magpie always a magpie.
The stretchy leathery legging fits like two gloves on both hands.
No make-up today since I was just returning home from my yoga practice. We were on the way home and made a quick stop to take the photos, the guy with the camera was grumpy, there was not much light energy from him neither from the that day but with my cream coat on and my top hat I felt the cat that got the cream.

The location was also matching pretty much perfectly with my look.

THE LAST DAY OF THE YEAR - WARM WINTER COLOURS

And so she decide to start living the life she'd imagined...

xo Ermine

The last day of the year 2014. Returning home, stop to make a few photos standing besides the wall where Derek Walcott name is written: a St. Lucian poet and playwright, a legend in St. Lucia and the Caribbean. I am in the moment, sun is shining, and I am about to make a jump with both arms out in the air.

Can you believe it that all the excitement created on the New Year is merely over, as I lay in bed writing this note. Write it on your heart that everyday is the best day in the year. It is not the years in life but the life in years that matter the most.

May your life be always full of life. Everyday is a moment to begin again; we do not need to wait a year to begin a new.
For me 2014 was a year of learning. I made new friends I became a better student and a better teacher. I became a better mother, lover and friend.

I started doing this blog, which was something that I have always wanted to do.
This year I made no new year’s resolution since I know now better, what needs to be done to continue to be the woman that I am and want to become.

All the very best to all of you who read this, may your life in 2015 exceed your expectation.

SHADES OF GREY -SHORT JACKET WITH EMBLISHMENT SKIRT

Fashion has always been a repetition of ideas but what makes it new is the way you put it together.

ermine

It was great weather for an outdoor shoot, the combination of an emblish skirt which is wearable for a day wear as well as evening.
I added a fun printed grey casual sweater underneath the jacket also beneath the sweater I am wearing a charcoal grey silk shirt. To keep my legs warm I wore matt grey tights with strappy shoes. I wore one earring and chunky silver necklace to give my outfit that funky rock and roll feeling. On my hair I wore a  diamante pin to give me a girly feminine touch.
Skirt wearable day/evening
Sweater is casually chic with the silk shirt
Silk shirt with ribbon add feminity to the look
I am also wearing a silver belt to clinch in my waist
Statement Jewerly to make my outfit funky and stoer
The beaded bracelets are my designs and style,  but with this outfit it works well since red with grey makes a great combination.
The cream cropped makes the looks more sophiscately elegant.

As seen on Rochelle Humes (copied from interenet)

Number of clothing pieces to complete this outfit....in total 8 minus my four silver rings and bracelets.
